2. Planning:

1. Message from Southgate Fire Station:

London Fire Brigade has proudly served and protected London and its inhabitants for 150 years and we are proud to be celebrating this important milestone in 2016. Across the capital 65 fire stations will hold open days throughout the year inviting the public to join firefighters and staff in recognition of the important and respected relationship that exists between the fire service and the people of our great capital.
On Saturday 25th June 2016, firefighters from Southgate Fire Station, 96 High Street Southgate N14 6BN, will hold their open day and plan to have a range of front line and historic fire engines and fire brigade equipment on display. The firefighters will demonstrate their skills during simulated rescue drills and exercises and be on hand to describe the work they do and talk about the history of London Fire Brigade, especially incidents they have attended in Southgate over the years.
Visitors can participate in brigade related games and displays, and can also learn CPR taught by St John’s Ambulance officers. We will be joined by local Air and Army cadets who will demonstrate their drilling skills; and there will be a chance to win some fabulous prizes in a raffle and auction. But that’s not all, we will be entertained by junior dancers from a local dance school and there will be a range of cultural foods from local business on sale. There will be a chance to dress in real fire gear and enter the fastest dresser competition, and an opportunity to have a guided tour around the station.
The times and location can be found on the attached poster which we ask that you please print and display around your school. If possible could it be included in your school newsletter. Further information may also be found on our website at: http://www.london-fire.gov.uk/150-events.asp you can also find out about previous open days via our Twitter account.
Not only will this event feature a variety of family friendly activities, at the same time we will promote fire safety for all ages. All proceeds raised on the day will be donated to the Firefighters Charity and you can find out more about the excellent and supportive work this charity does on their website: http://www.firefighterscharity.org.uk/
Finally I would like to thank you for the support you provide in what at times can be a challenging and demanding career.
Thank you for your time and I really hope you can celebrate this day with us on Saturday 25th June.

Regards,
Andy Bathie

The following text is taken from the Wren Enfield website.

From Michael Whitworth
Executive Principal, Wren Academy

I am delighted that Wren Academy is bidding to establish a brand new school in Oakwood. Over recent months I have got to know the area well and I am very encouraged by the amount of support the proposal has already received from local residents.

For us at Wren, starting a new school in Oakwood is a logical next step. We have been privileged to experience the successful development of the current Wren Academy since it opened in 2008 and are keen to offer a Wren education to young people in Enfield. I am very aware that there is already a demand for places at Wren from families in the Oakwood area which we are currently unable to meet.

It is important to recognise that every area, school and child is unique. We will build the new school upon principles we have successfully established at Wren; I know local families will want and expect us to do this. The Oakwood school will not, however, simply be a ‘Wren Academy 2’, it will take some of the best of our current practice to create something which is exciting, dynamic and suited to the particular needs and aspirations of children in Enfield.

If we earn your trust and support and if we are successful in bidding for the new school, I look forward immensely to working with you to make the project a resounding success. You can rest assured that the Governors and staff at Wren Academy recognise the responsibility that is placed upon us when parents choose a Wren education and we will do our utmost to fulfil your expectations of us.
