2. NHS CUTS IN ENFIELD: CONSULTATION STILL OPEN:

We previously reported about the controversial proposals by Enfield’s Clinical Commissioning Group  (CCG) to restrict access to certain NHS treatments.

The CCG has postponed all scheduled public consultation meetings. However, you can have your say by completing the consultation documents that you can find here:

http://www.enfieldccg.nhs.uk/adherence-to-evidence-based-medicine.htm

3. WARD FORUMS : PALMERS GREEN AND WINCHMORE HILL:

Residents have the opportunity to engage with their local Councillors at individual Ward Forums. The ward forums are arranged by ward Councillors providing a platform for residents to talk about the issues affecting their local area.  This connects Councillors more closely to their residents on matters of importance to them. All residents are invited to attend.

FLDRA volunteer representatives attend these forums whenever possible. The brief notes below are a summary of the main issues discussed at recent meetings.

PALMERS GREEN – APRIL 2017

DENHS (Defend Enfield NHS) A representative from this group gave a short talk. Enfield NHS is in debt and is under “special measures”. Enfield is part of a consortium including -Haringey / Camden/Islington/Barnet. Their figures being used to compare Enfield figures for operations. No consideration for demographics of population. In Enfield 3 year period  1600  ops on hips and knees Only 600 in Camden. But Barnet did 1800!.  A reduction to 300 per year in Barnet was mentioned. There is concern that cuts are purely on financial grounds. (If you are concerned about cuts to NHS services contact DENHS on   https://www.facebook.com/denhs  and make sure you reply to the consultation paper before the end of June)

Police Report- Katherine Johnson &  Mark Prentise.
– 80% of Police time is spent on the criminal element that is being housed in PG.
-Highest figures for motor vehicle is in PG. (MOPAC crimes 39)
-GreenLanes  /Oakthorpe Av/ New River Cres. Are all targets for burglaries.
-Gravel on drive good as it makes a noise to deter thieves.
-Number  plate on cars, special screws. Leave glove box open in car- preferably empty.
-Wheelie bins are a good tool for thieves getting over gates if left out. Lock them to trees.
– Tatem  Park. Skate board  group who visit on a Sunday, seem prepared to take over the toilets, for that day.
-Some repeat criminals are being arrested time and time again.
-A new app is available for all Neighboughhood Watches in our area.
-Residents may contact  Katherine Johnson – on line ,by phone, text ,Twitter.

WINCHMORE HILL – APRIL 2017

NHS Services: Presentation For Enfield Clinical Commissioning Group(CCG) on the proposals for “Adherence to Evidence Based Medicine(AEBM)” . A small team led by the Chair himself, a G.P. , gave a very brief talk about monitoring the quality and service to patience. Please ensure you  fill in the Consultation document , extended till end of June ( available from the Enfield CCG website and earlier issues of the FLDRA messages)

  • GREEN LANES : In Osborne Road and Windsor Road reported fire exit blocked up again.  Police are continuing to walk alleyways and make arrests.  A couple of properties are being used for drugs, applying for search warrants.  Residents to be encouraged to call Crime Stoppers
  • BURGLARY : Figure is slightly up but its borough wide. It appears on the borders of Palmers Green, they are using either the back or the side windows using tools to damage the windows.  It’s a case of looking if anything doesn’t seem right should be reported in any case otherwise we do not get a true picture what can be going on, so the more calls we get more of a chance of deploying more officers.
  • NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH : Trying to engage more through social media, encouraging neighbours to join from May there will be some changes taking place and we will be looking how to promote neighbourhood watch. Palmers Green will have four police officers doing local issues.
  • YOUTH ENGAGEMENT: We have this as an agenda to create a Youth Ward Panel to discuss matters with them.  Suggest that the Youth Parliament be involved too.

If you want to talk to a police officer about crime or any other issues concerning policing in Palmers Green, please come along to one of the “Cuppa with a Copper” events:

Thursday 25th May, 5pm-6pm, Cuppa with a copper at Costa, Green Lanes N13

Monday 5th June, 11am-12pm, Cuppa with a copper at Kiva, Green Lanes N13

Thursday 29th June, 5pm-6pm, Cuppa with a copper at Costa, Green Lanes N13
