2. The People’s Project:

The People’s Project was launched on ITV’s London News on 29th January – it gives local charities  the chance to decide how National Lottery funding can make a difference in the local community. The Big Lottery have set aside £3million of National Lottery funding and have shortlisted 95 organisations asking viewers to vote for the projects they would like to receive funding.  The shortlisted projects are competing for up to £50,000 of funding to improve the lives of people in their communities.

One of the organisations nominated for the London Region is the Godwin Lawson Foundation – this organisation was set up by Yvonne Lawson in memory of her son Godwin who was tragically killed in a knife crime attack in 2010.

The organisation will use the funding to work with young women at risk of becoming involved in gang culture and street crime in Enfield, Haringey and Waltham Forest. They will run training and mentoring sessions to build on their life skills, including conflict resolution, decision-making, anger management, leadership and empathy. This will enable the young women to become Peace Ambassadors so they can support others and act as positive role models, building a safer and stronger community

Please show your support to such a worthy organisation by using the following link:-

There are only 3 days left to vote! – closing date is Noon 13th March

NB You must click on the link in the confirmation email to confirm your vote after visiting the website.

3. Key Fob Car Crime:

It has come to our attention that there are key fobs in circulation used by criminals that potentially block the signal from your legitimate one when you are locking your car doors.
We ask that when you lock your vehicles that you also physically check the handle to ensure that your door is actually locked.
