Many of our older members will remember Harry, who supported the Association for many years, and made lovely cakes and chutneys for the Christmas events.

Unfortunately Harry had been ill for the past  few weeks following a fall, he died peacefully at 4am on Tuesday 17th June at the Wellington Nursing Home, Bush Hill Park.

For those who may wish to attend, his funeral is being held at St. John the Evangelist church, Palmers Green at 1pm on Thursday 26th June.

A letter from South West Enfield Action Team (SWEAT) has been sent to the Director of Schools and Children’s Services with questions about the report that went to Cabinet in June 2013 where a new 2FE School was proposed. The letter can be viewed here Letter to Council 11 June 2014.

Fox Lane and District Residents’ Association (FLDRA) support the SWEAT campaign to increase primary school provision in the Fox Lane and FLDRA area.

Enfield Council have consulted on a document that proposes to change admissions policy on siblings of children that have gained a place at a school fraudulently. The consultation window has closed and the policy if approved will commence next year. The proposal can be viewed here

Parents who move into temporary accommodation to gain admission for their child in to a good school will no longer be able to get their siblings into the same school. The South West Enfield Action Team (SWEAT) who have the Fox Lane and District Residents’ Association (FLDRA) backing, fully support this proposal and hope that this will stop parents from playing the admission system and cheating other children of a school place.

WARNING – further to the notification a couple of weeks ago of the theft of some window boxes in Lakeside Road, we have now been advised that two large terracotta pots, planted with yuccas, were stolen from the front of 13 Lakeside Road overnight.

Please be vigilant and also advise neighbours who may not be aware of this problem

St John the Evangelist Church is holding a quiz on Saturday 7th June, 7:30pm start, at St John’s Church Hall, Bourne Hill, London N13 4DA.

It promises to be a fun evening of knowledge testing. A licensed bar is available. Admission is £10 (including food).
