The national, police non-emergency telephone number ‘101’ has now been adopted by every police force in England and Wales. It provides the public with one easy to remember number for contacting local police wherever they are in the country. While 999 is a well-recognised number used to report emergencies, the 2010 British Crime Survey found only 54% of the public know how to contact their local police if they want to talk to them about policing, crime or anti-social behaviour.

After 25 attempts to perpetrate this scam across the borough in the last two weeks, Bromley Police are reissuing their warning about a scam in which fraudsters try to access people’s bank cards.

A group of Palmers Green residents, in association with Friends of Broomfield Park, are planning to open a small, not-for-profit Community Cafe in a disused building in Broomfield Park.

Enfield Safer & Stronger Communities Board want to know what you think they should be focussing on when tackling crime in Enfield.

You can put your views and questions to the Safer and Stronger Communities Board. The Council Chief Executive, Police Borough Commander, Fire Brigade Borough Commander, Probation, the Health Service and Councillor Chris Bond will be amongst those present to answer your questions. Refreshments will be provided.

Trading Standards Institute is urging consumers to be aware of rogue telephone, cold callers offering energy saving devices after branches up and down the country reported hundreds of complaints.

The Institute is currently dealing with more than 200 complaints about calls from people claiming to be the person’s energy supplier, or working in partnership with them, offering a plug-in device that they say can save 40 per cent on energy bills.

Trading Standards have tested a number of these items, which not only failed to satisfy electrical safety standards but did not deliver any tangible energy savings.
